SPEED SKATING OPEN HOUSE AT THE RINKS – LAKEWOOD ICE
THE RINKS – Lakewood ICE will be hosting its inaugural Speed Skating Open House at THE RINKS – Lakewood ICE on April 26 from 4 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. This event is open to participants of all ages, as Lakewood ICE will provide instruction for children and adults alike.

The Speed Skating Open House will begin at 4:00pm. Registrants will meet with instructors for 15 minutes before enjoying a half-hour speed skating lesson, followed by an exhibition race and practice session.

The Open House offers children and adults the chance to learn the basics of speed skating during a supervised on-ice session. Participants will be provided with skates and other essential equipment prior to the 1-hour session.

STREET HOCKEY IS RETURNING TO THE RINKS - HUNTINGTON BEACH INLINE!
Street hockey is a fun 5-on-5 league where players put aside their skates and lace up tennis shoes to play hockey! The league is open to players of all skill levels as it helps experienced players improve their skills and also introduces new players to the sport. Click here for more information and to register!

HB ALKALI MILITIA HOCKEY PROGRAM DOMINATES WIHA TOURNAMENT
The HB Alkali Militia hockey program took home 5 medals at this past weekend's WIHA Tournament.(March 22-23) at the Rinks-Corona Inline. The Bantam AA won gold coached by Shayne Arsenault. Peewee AA won gold coached by James Irwin. Peewee A won gold coached by Shayne Arsenault. Squirt AA won gold coached by Shayne Arsenault. Mite A took home Silver coached by Skylar Hoar.

JUNIOR DUCKS MIDGET 18U AA CHAMPS
Congratulations to the Junior Ducks Midget AA 18U team on winning the CAHA State Championship title.  Way to go!

PEEWEE MILITIA TAKES HOME GOLD IN THE WINTER WARS TOURNAMENT
Congratulations to our Alkali Militia Peewee team for winning the Winter Wars tournament this past weekend. Good job team!! Congratulations to Chris Bos-Teruya for taking home the MVP award!! 

LADY DUCKS 16UAAA WIN PACIFIC DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

The Lady Ducks 16AAA team won the Pacific District Tier I Championships over the weekend, defeating the Alaska AllStars 5-3 in the final game. This was truly a TEAM effort with goal scoring coming from 6 different scorers over the weekend and 12 of 14 players earning points as the Lady Ducks outscored opponents 13-6 on their way to earning the Championship.

 

Four Lady Ducks forwards led ALL-Scorers in the 4-game totals: Nicole Dunbar 5(G) 1(A) and Lilli Marchant  3(G) 3(A) with 6 points , Tia Stoddard 1(G)  3(A)  with 4 points and Keely Moy  2(G) 1(A) with 3 points.  The Lady Ducks were also led by net minder, Kai-Lilly Karpman (3-0), 1.00 GAA, with two shutouts and a .958 save percentage.  

 

The 16AAA now heads to USAHockey’s Tier I National Championships in Marlborough, MA and will join the 14AAA & 19AAA teams (already qualified) there.  In addition, Lady Ducks Women (defending National Champions) will also be competing. 



ADULT BEGINNER WOMEN'S PICK UP SESSION
HB Inline will be offering a pick up and stick time session for "Beginner" women who would like to come out and play. We will run the pick up session from 12:00-1:30pm Sunday afternoon's. Cost will be $5 for members and $10 non members. Please email James Irwin @ Jirwin@the-rinks.com for any questions.

HB Inline Pick up schedule will be Mon-Fri 3-5pm and Saturday morning 8am-10am. Cost $5

AAU INSURANCE
AAU Insurance will be required for all rec, club and adult players. Cost: $12 for players ages 1-24 and $22 for players ages 25 and up. This insurance is required even if you already have your own medical insurance. Please sign up online at www.aauhockey.org

ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM
The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Bauer is back, giving all first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink (ice or inline) in full hockey equipment for FREE!  Participants receive instruction from The Rinks coaching staff on how to skate properly while implementing some of the basic skills in hockey such as passing, shooting, and stick handling.
 
The Learn to Play Program is a (4) four week session geared toward participants 10 years old and younger (due to equipment sizes). Each participant is provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves, stick and a jersey, which they get to keep during the duration of the session, giving them the opportunity to practice what they have learned between each session. Skate rentals are provided for free at each rink as well. The use of full hockey equipment allows participants to get the feel of skating in full hockey gear, allowing them to experience the sport as a whole without taking on the financial commitment of purchasing all the equipment.  

Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on to a paid program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment to keep courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
